SUMMARY:“From the Sources’ Mouth” with CDMRP
DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss your chance to hear directly from Dr. Rebecca A. Fisher\, Deputy Director for Program Management at Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP). \nThe CDMRP strives to transform health care for Service Members and the American public through innovative and impactful research. The CDMRP fills research gaps by funding high impact\, high risk and high gain projects that other agencies may not venture to fund. All the programs managed by the CDMRP share the common goal of advancing paradigm shifting research\, solutions that will lead to cures or improvements in patient care\, or breakthrough technologies and resources for clinical benefit. \nJoin this overview of the CDMRP program and learn\, from the source\, what technologies they are looking for and what’s needed to submit a successful proposal. Following the presentation\, there will be plenty of Q&A time with the presenter. \n  \n  \nRegister Here\nno cost to attend\, but registration is required \n  \n  \n  \n\n\nFeaturing:\nRebecca Fisher\, Ph.D. \nDr. Rebecca Fisher currently serves as Deputy Director for Program Management at the Department of Defense (DoD) Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP)\, providing senior-level leadership and support for the successful execution of over $1.5 billion per year in Congressional appropriations and other DoD program funding for targeted biomedical research\, particularly as aligned with military-relevant research areas and initiatives. Dr. Fisher has over 16 years of experience managing complex biomedical research programs within the DOD and is widely recognized for her expertise in research program administration. In her current role at CDMRP\, Dr. Fisher leads Program Managers and Science Officers in working with both US Army Medical Research and Development Command\, Defense Health Agency\, and interagency components to develop strategies\, refine processes\, and lead organizational initiatives that further the CDMRP and DOD biomedical research missions. Her work also involves extensive engagement with stakeholders across the DOD\, other Government\, academia\, industry\, and consumer advocacy organizations to facilitate collaborative efforts\, coordinate funding opportunities\, provide program information\, and communicate program accomplishments on behalf of CDMRP. Dr. Fisher has broadly-based scientific expertise in areas of genetics\, proteomics\, pathobiology and toxicology; receiving her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University and Ph.D. in Toxicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was awarded a Cancer Research Training Award Fellowship at the National Cancer Institute where her research focused on investigating the signaling pathways and molecular mechanisms of cell cycle control and DNA damage repair. After joining CDMRP in 2005 and supporting the Breast Cancer Research Program for many years\, her work with CDMRP evolved and expanded\, covering Psychological Health/Traumatic Brain Injury\, Lung Cancer\, Gulf War Illness\, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis\, Vision\, Joint Warfighter\, Peer Reviewed Medical\, and areas related to Defense Medical Research Program support. Dr. Fisher holds a Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act–Level III certification in the Science & Technology Management career field and is a member of the Army Acquisition Corps. \n  \n  \n\n  \nTraining Provided By: Michigan’s SBIR/STTR Assistance Program\nThe Michigan SBIR/STTR Assistance Program provides SBIR/STTR training and proposal development services to technology companies with costs covered in whole or in part by the state. The program is funded by the Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF)\, administered by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and managed by BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting. \n  \nDo you know about Michigan’s SBIR/STTR Assistance Program?  The Michigan SBIR/STTR Assistance Program provides SBIR/STTR training and proposal development services to technology companies with most costs covered by a state grant. The program is managed by BBCetc. \n  \n \n  \n  \nFunds for this initiative were provided by the 21st Century Jobs Fund\, a MSF program designed to accelerate the growth and diversification of Michigan’s economy. \n  \n\n
