DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 1-hour overview of the DOE SBIR/STTR program\, straight from the source. You’ll learn what’s changed since reauthorization\, get updates on FY26 funding opportunities\, and gain deeper insight into DOE’s proposal requirements. This session is also a great opportunity to connect directly with the DOE program official. \n  \n  \n \nThe DOE’s SBIR/STTR program funds early-stage R&D that advances DOE’s mission across energy efficiency\, renewable energy\, nuclear science\, environmental management\, and national security\, while helping small businesses transform innovative ideas into commercially viable technologies. DOE is one of the largest funders of physical science and engineering R&D in the federal government\, making it an especially strong fit for hardware-focused\, deep-tech\, and energy-related startups. \n  \n  \n  \nJoin this overview of the DOE SBIR program and learn\, from the source\, what technologies they are looking for and what’s needed to submit a successful proposal. Following the presentation there will be ample Q&A time with the presenter. \n  \n  \n  \nRegister Here\nno cost to attend\, but registration is required \n  \n  \n  \n\nMeet the Presenter\n  \nBen Shrager\, Program Manager with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) \n \n  \nBen Shrager is a Program Manager with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) where he leads efforts to reimagine DOE’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. Prior to joining OTC\, Ben spent over five years with DOE’s Office of Electricity (OE)\, Energy Storage Division\, where he managed and oversaw projects to advance energy storage RD&D across the technology lifecycle. Ben has managed SBIR projects since 2020 and served as OE’s SBIR Portfolio Manager in 2025. Ben received his B.S. and M.S. from Case Western Reserve University in Systems & Control Engineering. \n  \n\n  \nTraining Provided By: Michigan’s SBIR/STTR Assistance Program\nThe Michigan SBIR/STTR Assistance Program provides SBIR/STTR training and proposal development services to technology companies with costs covered in whole or in part by the state.
