All SBIR proposals must relate to the NOAA mission and should have commercial applications outside of NOAA. \n  \n  \nJoin this overview of the NOAA SBIR program and learn\, from the source\, what technologies they are looking for and what’s needed to submit a successful proposal. Please view our on-demand webinars before joining our “From the Sources’ Mouth” training sessions. \n  \n\n\nFeaturing:\n \nMr. Derek Parks\, \n  \nSenior Technology Transfer and Commercialization Specialist at the NOAA Technology Partnerships Office \n  \n  \nMr. Derek Parks is a Senior Technology Transfer and Commercialization Specialist at the NOAA Technology Partnerships Office. In his current role\, Derek is responsible for facilitating the transfer of NOAA-developed and NOAA-funded technologies to commercial applications through the use of intellectual property protections\, licensing agreements\, cooperative research and development agreements\, as well as other creative approaches to public-private partnerships. \nDerek has over 30-years’ experience working for the U.S. Department of Commerce with a focus on policy development\, intellectual property management\, strategic partnerships\, and project management. \nPrior to working at NOAA\, Derek worked as an International Trade Specialist with the  U.S. International Trade Administration. During this time\, Derek’s duties included import compliance enforcement and export promotion activities\, including work with the Matchmaker and International Buyer Programs. Derek was also an important part of the development team for the BuyUSA global marketplace. \nDerek graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Colorado\, Boulder\, with a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Italian Language. \n  \n  \n  \n\n  \nTraining Provided By: Michigan’s SBIR/STTR Assistance Program\nThe Michigan SBIR/STTR Assistance Program provides SBIR/STTR training and proposal development services to technology companies with costs covered in whole or in part by the state. The program is funded by the Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF)\, administered by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and managed by BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting. \n  \nDo you know about Michigan’s SBIR/STTR Assistance Program?  The Michigan SBIR/STTR Assistance Program provides SBIR/STTR training and proposal development services to technology companies with most costs covered by a state grant.
