SUMMARY:NSF Proposal Preparation Intensive
DESCRIPTION:The National Science Foundation (NSF) invests more than $200 million annually in their SBIR/STTR Program to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health\, prosperity\, and welfare; and to secure the national defense. NSF-funded research has led to breakthroughs and new discoveries that help people live longer\, healthier and more productive lives\, and builds a research foundation that drives further discovery. \n  \nJoin this SBIR classroom for an overview of the NSF SBIR/STTR program and proposal requirements. Including\, how to present your Technical Objectives for reviewers to understand and developing your commercial plan. \nAug. 27\nOther Key Elements of Phase I\nBudget\, bio sketches\, facilities\, collaborators\, and tips on navigating the submission process. \n  \n  \nRegister Here\nno cost to attend\, but registration is required \n  \n  \n  \n\n\nMeet the Presenters:  \n  \n \nJerry Hollister\nBBCetc Co-Owner\n \nJerry became Co-Owner of BBCetc in 2023\, after serving as a Principal Consultant since 2017. Jerry leads customer development efforts and oversees BBCetc’s NSF\, DoD\, DOE\, and USDA team\, supporting clients across multiple federal agencies. He serves as an SBIR/STTR reviewer for NSF\, DOE\, USDA\, and NOAA and is a frequent national speaker on SBIR/STTR programs. Jerry began his career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps and served as a warranted DoD Contracting Officer. Prior to BBCetc\, he was Chief Operating Officer of Niowave\, where he helped build the company from startup to national prominence\, leading teams that secured over 45 SBIR/STTR awards totaling more than $20 million. He continues to serve on Niowave’s Board of Directors and contributed to major Phase III and commercial agreements exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars. Jerry holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a certificate in Artificial Intelligence from MIT.  Jerry has two AI certificates from MIT and has played a leadership role in two SBA Tibbetts Award–winning organizations. \n  \nAmanda Barnhart\nPrincipal Consultant \nAmanda joined BBCetc as Principal Consultant in 2020 after serving as the Director of Business Development and Regulatory Affairs for a Michigan manufacturing facility producing medical isotopes for cancer therapy. In addition to her directorial responsibilities\, Amanda worked as a nuclear engineer\, project manager\, and program manager to secure over $60 million in Department of Energy\, Department of Defense\, Department of Homeland Security and private investor funds. Her grant writing and negotiation skills have won over 30 Phase I\, Phase II\, and Phase III contracts through the SBIR/STTR program and she has managed the post-award administration process for five universities and six national laboratories. Amanda secured three licenses and 20 amendments from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and established facility registration and Drug Master Files with the Food and Drug Administration. She has an Executive MBA in Integrative Management from Michigan State University and a Bachelor’s in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan\, Ann Arbor. \n. \n  \n\n  \nTraining Provided By: Michigan’s SBIR/STTR Assistance Program\nThe Michigan SBIR/STTR Assistance Program provides SBIR/STTR training and proposal development services to technology companies with costs covered in whole or in part by the state.
